Sunday Badassilisks Practices Now Open To All!

• Interested in becoming a Quidditch player?
• Want to try out for the Badassilisks in the next few months?
• Or just want to have a blast with some awesome people while working out?!

Then come to the Badassilisk’s pitch at 86th Street and Central Park West (inside the park, just north of the entrance) 1pm every Sunday.

Don’t forget, this is in addition to our open practices at 5:30pm on Wednesday nights! (same location)

Quidditch Champions Series

The Knights Who Say NE played in the IQA’s Champions Series this past weekend in Boston. Comprised of players from Briarcliff, Hofstra, Macaulay, NY Badassilisks, NYU, Stony Brook, UMass, and UMD, the knights ferociously clip-clopped their way into battle and here’s what went down:

Vermont put up a pretty physical fight in the first game, but we outscored them and caught the snitch. This got us amped, especially as Vermont later went on to dominate the Western All-Star team. (Great games by all, by the way, we were just proud.)
Second game was against Emerson where we really let the defense slide and lost even with the snitch grab. 
Third game was a rematch against Emerson, but we reassessed and stepped up the defense so it was much better played than the first. There were a few crappy ref calls and some of our goals weren’t counted, but they caught the snitch and won—putting us in 5th place (I think). Even with that loss, we were happy with our performance and a bunch of Emerson players came over and expressed how impressed they were with us. 

While the rest of the playoffs were finishing, we combined with West and Vermont for a bunch of scrimmage games that were friendly and crazyfun. 

Closing ceremonies included each team presenting a regional token to another team. The Knights Who Say NE’s gift—a shrubbery—was received very well by Alex Benepe on behalf of Middlebury, after officially knighting him with a foam sword. 

Overall, it was a great tournament that really showed how superb the quidditch community is! A bunch of random people came together and gelled so well in such a short time (not just us, but the other all-star and combo teams as well) in a highly competitive arena and all ended with a group hug and promises to play together in the future; that’s what made it amazing. I really cannot wait to charge forth again with my fellow knights in the future! (Badassilisks have open practices in Central Park if you ever want to stop by, and we look forward to reunions/rematches when we get some pick-up games going in the summer.)

Also, our commitment to a themed team name was really unparalleled. The legend of the Knights Who Say NE shall be shared around campfires or nice, inexpensive shrubberies for many future generations.
